The Physics & Astronomy Department of The University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) will host the IFE-STARFIRE Winter School from December 15-19, 2025

We are thrilled to welcome you to the first-ever IFE-STARFIRE Winter School, taking place from December 15-19, 2025. This inaugural event marks the beginning of an exciting new tradition aimed at cultivating the next generation of researchers and innovators in Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE).

The IFE-STARFIRE Winter School brings together students, postdoctoral scholars, and early-career scientists for an intensive week of learning, collaboration, and professional development. As the field of IFE experiences renewed momentum, this winter school provides a unique forum to explore the latest advancements in:

  • Target physics and laser-plasma interactions
  • High-energy-density science and modeling
  • Fusion driver technologies and systems
  • Reactor design concepts and materials challenges
  • National and international perspectives on the future of IFE

Our program features lectures by leading experts, hands-on computational workshops, and interactive discussions on technical and career-related topics. We aim to foster a dynamic learning environment and build a strong, interdisciplinary community around the IFE-STAR initiative.

We are honored to have you join us for this milestone event and look forward to an impactful week together.

With warm regards,
The IFE-STARFIRE Winter School Organizing Committee
